Pre-participation cardiovascular screening is a key element for physicians and coaches who work with athletes. The breakout session will review current guidelines for screening, discuss resources for management of cyclists with cardiovascular conditions, and offer case examples. After the session the participant will be familiar with cardiovascular issues specific to cycling and options for the athlete.
Dr. Albers is a cardiologist with the OhioHealth Physician Group in Columbus, Ohio. She is a cardiovascular imaging specialist with focus on echocardiography, cardiac stress testing, and vascular studies. She maintains an active consultative cardiovascular practice; her clinical interests include cardiovascular disease management for women, cardiac issues for athletes, and heart disease in diabetes.
